Well, today's the day. Today is the day that we are trying to raise $20,000 to give to help train locals in rural Indian villages to repair wells.
Why? You ask.

1 out of 8 people lack access to clean drinking water.
4,000 children die EACH day as a result.
(That's more than AIDS, malaria, and measles combined.)
1/3 of all wells built in the last 20 years DON'T work.

We are trying to turn water back on today for 7,200 people in India.

You can read all about it here.

I am donating today because my children will not die as a result of lack of access to clean drinking water. And so I am giving for a mom in India, so she won't have to watch one of her children die as a result of not having clean drinking water.

I am also giving today because my "daughter" has a chance at education, she can go to school, or work, or wherever she needs to go each day. Because she will not have to collect water for her family.Did you know that It is estimated that women in low-income countries spend 40 billion hours annually fetching and carrying water from sources far from home and that may not provide clean water. And that the weight of the water women carry also exposes them to a greater risk of malnutrition, back problems, and anemia.

Not for my daughter. So I will donate today, for her. You can donate for your niece, your daughter, your mom, your sister...

One child every 20 seconds dies as a result of lack of access to clean water. And today, you can help.

Our Water Revolution.

Today's World Water Day. Our goal is to inspire 100 bloggers to turn their words to action, and inspire ten readers to donate $20 - enough to turn water back on for three people in India.

One third of all handpumps installed in the last twenty years in developing countries are now broken. And 4,000 children die every day because of lack of clean drinking water. We feel that’s unacceptable. So we’re thinking differently.

Instead of drilling more wells, we’re using our charitable gifts for something revolutionary – to train and employ handpump mechanics. The mechanics earn an income, bringing themselves out of poverty, and they save lives – turning water back on for thousands of people each year.
